Environment at The Crescent

At the Crescent Arts Centre, we believe that creativity and sustainability go hand in hand.  That's why we've implemented a range of environmentally friendly policies to minimise our ecological impact.

  • Solar panels on our roof have reduced our carbon footprint by 33,349kg – enough to heat one workshop space for 12 months
  • Our recycling programme with River Ridge includes paper, mixed dry recyclables and food waste to help conserve resources and reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill
  • We promote sustainable transport options by providing cycle parks on the premises and highlighting public transport routes on our website. Wherever possible, our live events are scheduled to align with bus and train schedules
  • Our major renovation project (2008-2010) was structured around the needs of our colony of swifts. During the works, 33 swift bricks were incorporated into the extension of The Crescent, earning us the 2010 UNESCO Man and the Built Environment award.
