Painting
Join us for a relaxing Saturday afternoon workshop where you'll discover the joys of painting with gouache!
Designed for all skill levels, this session will guide you through the basics of using gouache paint—learning techniques like layering, blending, and colour mixing—through the fun and inspiring subject of wildlife.
Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or refining your skills, this is a perfect opportunity to explore a vibrant medium in a friendly, supportive setting.
A list of recommended materials will be sent out prior to the workshop.
About the Tutor
Maeve is a First-Class graduate of Ulster University’s Graphic Design and Illustration course, where she specialised in illustration. She now works as a freelance illustrator and designer, with clients including Jameson Whiskey NI, Daisychain, CoffeeBox Belfast and the Belfast Arts Council. Her work often explores themes of travel, self-growth, and narrative, brought to life through both digital and traditional techniques.
Maeve’s favourite mediums are gouache and coloured pencil, but she’s always experimenting with new materials to keep her practice fresh and evolving. Alongside her freelance career, she also works part-time at Rush Digital Printing—Northern Ireland’s only certified Hahnemühle Print Studio. Here she has developed a strong foundation in fine art print production and practical creative skills.
This workshop marks Maeve’s first time joining the Crescent Arts Centre as a tutor, and she’s excited to share her passion for illustration and painting in a warm, welcoming environment.
