Join artist and tutor Alison Pascoe of ASTRL Fibres and discover the craft practice of Macramé: The art of Knots.
Over the course of this 3 hour workshop, Alison will guide you through the basic skills and techniques required to create a circular pattern using the double hitch knot. Participants will use these skills to handcraft a pair of coasters, in a selection of coloured cord options.
All materials and necessary tools will be provided.
This course is suitable for absolute beginners and for those interested in further developing their macramé skills.
About the tutor
Alison Pascoe is an artist, craftsperson and tutor, and the founder of ASTRL Fibres: a Belfast based studio dedicated to fibre craft skills and established in 2016. The ethos of Alison’s practice is deeply rooted in generational skills, exploring new perspectives with heritage techniques and sustainable handcrafted methods. Alison specialises in the craft practice of macrame and in 2024 was awarded a bursary from the Heritage Crafts Association to train in the endangered craft of passementerie and specialist braid-work. She is a member of The International Guild of Knot Tyers, Craft NI, Heritage Crafts Association, The Braid Society and the a-n Artists Network.
