About the Tutor
Ursula McHugh is the Founder and Director of Creative Living, a transformative programme rooted in her expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, counselling, and yoga.
As a motivator, speaker, and skilled facilitator, Ursula delivers diverse courses and workshops exploring health, well-being, creativity, and personal reinvention. Her work spans the Health, Social Care, Education, and Voluntary sectors, as well as theatre and the arts.
Beyond her therapeutic practice, Ursula is an accomplished singer, entertainer, and events organiser. She has produced sold-out theatre shows at The Playhouse Theatre, Derry, in partnership with the City of Derry Jazz Festival. Her celebrated show Ursula in Company- performed at the iconic Guildhall- honours the talented women who have shaped the festival for over 24 years through an innovative blend of music, conversation, and storytelling.
Most recently, Ursula brought Ursula in Company to Heaney Home Place for International Women’s Day 2025, featuring Real Women Big Lives- a tribute to older women in the arts. Through song, poetry, and dance, she inspires audiences with a powerful message: it’s never too late to begin again, to reclaim your path, and to show resilience through life’s greatest challenges. The arts, she demonstrates, offer profound healing for both creators and participants alike.
At this year’s City of Derry Jazz Festival, Ursula performed with the exciting new ensemble Women in Black, offering a fresh, modern interpretation of exquisite jazz standards from the golden era as well as modern day.
Ursula has dedicated her career to celebrating the uniqueness and creativity within each individual, encouraging everyone she encounters to honour their own creative spirit and enhance the quality of their lives.
