Tell us a bit about what your company does.
The Society of Authors is the trade union for writers, illustrators and literary translators across Britain and Ireland. We exist to support professional and emerging authors of all kinds at every stage of their careers. We provide expert advice and professional development opportunities, strengthen author communities and campaign to industry, government and beyond on issues that matter to authors.
With the appointment of Hilary McCollum as Senior Policy & Liaison Manager for Northern Ireland in March 2023, we are expanding our work locally.

Do you have a special relationship to The Crescent? / What is your story with The Crescent?
Unlike most of the other hub organisations, the SoA’s relationship with The Crescent began relatively recently, with our participation in the 2022 Belfast Book Festival. We are delighted to have a home at The Crescent, which helps us to build connections with other creative organisations and individuals in Northern Ireland.
