Ahead of the Belfast Book Festival 2026, The Crescent is offering a taste of Festival events in a new series called Bookmarks.

As part of this series, we are very excited to welcome the hilarious mega-bestselling author Katie Kirby comes to Belfast to talk about her brand-new story in the phenomenal Lottie Brooks series!

The fantastically funny, relatable and chart-topping Lottie Brooks diary series, by number one bestselling author and illustrator, is filled with first experiences, friendship fails, embarrassing moments and plenty of laughs. And so is this event! Lottie’s done with embarrassing herself. There can’t possibly be any more ways to do it! Right?

Katie Kirby is a number one best-selling writer and illustrator who lives by the sea in Hove with her husband, two sons and dog Sasha. She has a degree in Advertising and Marketing and after spending several years working in London media agencies, which basically involved hanging out in fancy restaurants and pretending to know what she was talking about, she had some children and decided to start a blog called Hurrah for Gin about the gross injustice of it all.

Many people said her sense of humour was silly and immature so she now writes children's books. Katie likes gin, rabbits, over-thinking things, the smell of launderettes and Monster Munch. She does not like losing at board games or writing about herself in the third person.

Katie’s relatable, hilarious and accessible Lottie Brooks series for tween readers has been shortlisted for the British Book Awards and Laugh Out Loud Book Awards, and titles from the series frequently appear in the favourites lists from the What Kids Are Reading Reports. The series has now sold over 1,000,000 copies in the UK in just four years.

About the event:

  • Copies of The Seriously Epic Holiday of Lottie Brooks will be available for purchase before and after the event
  • We're delighted that Katie will be signing books after the event. Do note - one book per person and no other items (we expect it to be busy!)
  • If you have any accessibility needs that may impact your ability to wait in the queue, please do flag this to the team when booking your ticket
  • Photos with Katie are allowed, but please do limit these to just one per ticket and let the signing team help to take these, to ensure we have time for everyone to speak to and have their photo with Katie :-)

Save the Date: Book lovers are invited to save the date for The Crescent's Belfast Book Festival which will run from 4–11 June 2026. The full programme and tickets will be announced in April 2026, with all events offered on a pay-what-you-decide basis.
