RÓIS
Róis is an Irish composer, multi-instrumentalist and performer whose songs explores diverse modes of expression; forging an idiosyncratic blend of folk and Sean-nós, electronics, jazz harmony and extended vocal techniques. She calls the dead with her haunting sean-nós keening songs as well as her massive thunderous and booming soundscapes, often compared to the likes of Meredith Monk, Björk or Hatis Noit. Always changing her set lists for each performance, people describe them as transcendent and unearthly.
CÓRAS TRIO
Leading lights in a fresh wave of Irish musicians exploring links between the ancient and the 21st century, Belfast’s Córas Trio are steeped in free improv, electronic music, and the city’s “seisiún” or session scene.
Comprising of Kevin McCullagh (fiddle, electronics), Paddy McKeown (guitar, electronics) and Conor McAuley (drums), the trio are part of a new creative wave of musicians based in Belfast exploring how traditional music relates to the experience of the 21st century. Irish traditional music taken to the outer reaches where the spirits of Schoenberg and Sun Ra play with Seán Ó Riada and Tommie Potts.
This Belfast performance see’s the launch of their highly anticipated debut album, ‘Córas Trio’.
