NI Science Festival: Claudia Hammond - The Keys To Kindness

We are delighted to welcome to The Crescent, NI Science Festival for a series of events as part of their 2024 programme.

What can psychological research tell us about kindness and the most effective strategies for building more kindness into our lives? Broadcaster and author of the Keys To Kindness, Claudia Hammond takes on an eye-opening tour of the topic. She draws on her work with Sussex University and BBC Radio 4 on The Kindness Test, the world’s largest study of its type.

Claudia Hammond is an award-winning writer and broadcaster. She is Visiting Professor of the Public Understanding of Psychology at the University of Sussex and is the presenter of BBC Radio 4's All in the Mind. She has been awarded the President's Medal from the British Academy, the British Psychological Society's Public Engagement & Media Award, Mind's Making a Difference Award and the British Neuroscience Association's Public Understanding of Neuroscience Award. She is the author of Emotional Rollercoaster, Mind over Money, Time Warped, which won the Aeon Transmission Award and the BPS' Best Popular Science Book Award, and The Art of Rest, which was also shortlisted for the latter and was picked for Waterstones Non-Fiction Book of the Month. Her latest book, The Keys to Kindness, won the People's Book Prize Best Achievement Award.

Established in 2014, NI Science Festival has grown to become the largest celebration of its kind on the island of Ireland and in its relatively short lifespan became one of the leading Science Festivals in the whole of Europe.
