Late Night Art

Our current Late Night Art series has been curated by Conall McCauley! Conall is working with talented Befast-based artists to bring you a series of creative hands-on activities.

For September's edition of Late Night Art, The Crescent is collaborating with The Hole in Head Collective. And in the spirit of the Halloween season, they invite you to join them to help them to create one big exquisite corpse!

You may not know
The exquisite corpse by name
But I'm willing to bet you've crossed it's path
Drowsy in the back of classrooms or half drowned in pubs
A three sectioned ritual
A symbol of togetherness

Paper
You know paper
And ink
You may just know that too
But I bet you've never seen a roll of paper so long that when all rolled out it goes further than the
eye can see
Paper that expands rooms and lengthens tables
And ink
Ink for creating
Ink that let's you love again
Ink that makes you want to hold hands with a stranger
And make a beautiful picture together
The drawings will come like your first breath words
Like saying your father's name for the first time
Dada
This is the what I propose to you
This is the reality I'm selling
The price:
Nothing but some of your time
(We will provide you with materials)
Spent at The Crescent Arts Centre
On Thursday the 6th of November from 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Late night Art to the initiated
Come and stay a while
Or leave as you please
Make a connection for life
Or for the duration of your brushstroke
As it's picked up by another

No experience or booking needed - this is a free event with all materials and refreshments provided. As always, no experience or booking required - but get down early to grab a spot! Come along and simply bring yourself, maybe a friend and pop in for a relaxed creative session.

About The Hole in Head Collective - In their own words:

There's a hole in my head
That's how I let the ideas out

We want to make good things happen
We want to think of good things and then make the good things happen
If you think of a good thing make it happen
That's what we said
And it's true
We said
We would like more good things in belfast
We would like more peer learning workshops to bring the beautiful young people together
We would like a merry, mirthful band of friends to get us out of the house and into a beautiful,
creative workshop environment
And now look
We've got lovely events
We just can't quit making lovely workshops
And sometimes even exhibitions
It's really anything we like
And we really think you'll like it too
