Imagine Festival presents The Art of Political Speechmaking

Talk

This March we are excited to welcome Imagine Festival as they bring to The Crescent a whole host of events.

It’s generally accepted that effective speechmaking is an important skill and feature of modern day politics, so we have brought together leading representatives from the main political parties to recite elements of their favourite speeches which have influenced their political journeys in some way.

We are delighted to welcome leading representatives recite elements of their favourite speeches which have influenced their political journeys. The line-up for the evening includes: Claire Hanna (SDLP), Deirdre Hargey (SF), Emma Little-Pengelly (DUP), Kate Nicholl (AL) and Doug Beattie (UUP) – to be confirmed – have agreed to take part in this unique event chaired and facilitated by William Crawley.

Following their presentations, the leaders will take part in a panel discussion to discuss the art of speechmaking and importance in the current political arena. Hopefully this event will provide an opportunity to discuss political themes in a fun and imaginative way.

The art of political speechmaking involves the crafting of persuasive and impactful messages to connect with a wide range of audiences. It often requires the effective use of rhetoric and storytelling to address the concerns of voters in order to inspire, motivate, or influence their opinions. A successful political speech often balances emotion, logic, with a clear call to action and our panel will provide examples that have inspired them and discuss how they have used speeches in their political careers.
