BYO

This March we are excited to welcome Imagine Festival as they bring to The Crescent a whole host of events.

Paul Muldoon is widely recognized as one of our outstanding contemporary poets.

Joined by William Crawley, this conversation will be interspersed with readings from his extensive work, will examine the relationship between poetry and politics and the challenges of addressing contentious and ‘difficult’ political and cultural issues.

Paul Muldoon was born in County Armagh in 1951. He now lives in New York. A former radio and television producer for the BBC in Belfast, he has taught at Princeton University for thirty-five years. He is the author of fifteen collections of poetry including Moy Sand and Gravel, for which he won the 2003 Pulitzer Prize, and Joy in Service on Rue Tagore, published by Faber and Faber in April 2024. He serves as Ireland Professor of Poetry 2022-2025 and is a patron of the Crescent Arts Centre.

William Crawley is a BBC presenter and journalist. He hosts Talkback weekdays on BBC Radio Ulster and Sunday on BBC Radio 4. He has written and presented radio and television programmes on many subjects, from history and science to religion and literature.
