Chamber Babies

Chamber Babies concerts are very informal events with short programmes that are specially designed for babies aged 0-18 months. 

Walk, sway, crawl, roll, dance or just chill out to a carefully selected programme of short classical pieces designed both to engage and enchant (or soothe to sleep!) the youngest listeners and their mums and dads.

Enjoy coffee and cake in The Crescent's cafe before or after the concert. Chamber Babies concerts last about 40 minutes.

These concerts are designed specifically for babies UP TO the age of 18 months. We reserve the right not to permit entry for older babies/children.

If you are bringing more than one baby, please make sure there is more than one adult in your party. 

Tickets are based on one adult and baby, please ensure additional tickets are purchased if there is more than one adult in your party.

David McCann has worked with many of the U.K. and Ireland’s leading orchestras, including the Hallé Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, the Ulster Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Ireland’s National Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Opera North and Northern Ireland Opera.

A passionate interpreter of new music, David has given premiere performances of dozens of new pieces for his instrument. He is a founder member of Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble, the only professional ensemble in Northern Ireland which specialises in the performance of modern and contemporary classical music. He is also active as a composer; in 2017 he was commissioned by HRSE to compose Three Caprices for solo cello. His Six Pieces for solo flute and Suite for solo cello received first performances in 2019, and his Reflexion for solo cello was premiered in 2022. David graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2010 and completed the MMus course with distinction in 2012. He teaches privately at his home in Belfast.

Belfast-born Andrew Nesbitt works regularly in professional orchestras and performs as part of his cello duo, The Cellists.  As a composer and arranger, Andrew has written music for cello duo and octet which has been performed across the UK and Ireland.  Andrew is on the teaching staff at Oxford Cello School, and teaches in a number of schools in Belfast and at the Ulster College of Music.  He is also the cello tutor of the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra. Andrew Nesbitt studied the cello at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. During his six years there he gained both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Cello Performance.  As well as working regularly as an extra with the Ulster Orchestra, Andrew also works with the RTÉ Concert and RTÉ National Symphony Orchestras in Dublin, and the English Symphony Orchestra.

Andrew has appeared as cello soloist, notably in a performance of The Armed Man in St Anne’s Cathedral with the Belfast Philharmonic Choir, and the Duruflé Requiem in St George’s Church with Melisma.  He has also performed as a continuo player with other choral societies in Northern Ireland and the North West of England.  Andrew has been heard performing on the Radio 4 Daily Service and can also be seen from time to time performing on Songs of Praise.
