Cecelia Ahern: In A Thousand Different Ways

Belfast Book Festival

Join us for a wonderful evening with bestselling author Cecelia Ahern, in conversation with author Sheena Wilkinson, to celebrate Cecelia’s latest novel In A Thousand Different Ways (HarperCollins, April 2023)

The novel introduces the inimitable Alice, a girl growing up in Dublin in a difficult family. Empathetic and highly sensitive, Alice reads others’ moods in a heartbeat which marks her an oddity. A unique and unforgettable coming-of-age story that explores what it is to belong, and how we treat those who don’t.

After completing a degree in Journalism and Media Communications, Cecelia wrote her first novel at 21 years old. Her debut novel, PS I Love You was published in January 2004, and was followed by Where Rainbows End (aka Love, Rosie) in November 2004. Both novels were adapted to films; PS I Love You starred Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler, and Love, Rosie starred Lily Collins and Sam Claflin. Cecelia has published a novel every year since then, and to date has published 19 novels. Cecelia has sold over 25 million copies internationally, and is published in over 40 countries, in 30 languages. In A Thousand Different Ways is her most recent novel. Along with writing novels, Cecelia has co-created the US ABC Comedy Samantha Who? and many other original TV projects. Her collection of short stories ROAR is an Apple Original series now on AppleTV+ starring Nicole Kidman

Following eight award-winning novels for children and young adults, Sheena Wilkinson’s first novel for adults, Mrs Hart’s Marriage Bureau, described in the Irish Times as a “briskly witty  delight”, has just been published in paperback. Sheena is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow and an Arts Council of Northern Ireland Major Award holder. She teaches creative writing in a wide range of settings, including for Trinity College Dublin and Arvon.  Her tenth novel will be published in September.
