This 4-week creative writing course focuses on storms in literature, mythology, music and art.
You will explore ways of conveying the drama and impact of storms in writing, using a range of literary forms such as poetry, flash fiction, memoir, song lyrics and descriptive writing. Storms in literature can also represent personality attributes or reflect changes in characters’ lives.
The course content will also include the effect of climate change on the weather in the form of hurricanes, snowstorms and tornadoes.
About the Tutor
Shelley Tracey is a published writer and creative writing facilitator who has worked with groups in many settings, including reminiscence work and mental health. Her experience includes journaling courses, writing classes in schools, prisons, health settings, higher education, in the community and voluntary sectors, and in arts centres. She has facilitated many creative writing and memoir classes and workshops at The Crescent, including a week-long writing course in the summer.
