Summer Intensive: Oil Painting from a Still-Life Image

Join us for this 5-day workshop where students will improve their basic knowledge and understanding of oil paint.

With the help and guidance of our experienced oil painting instructor and through class demonstrations, you will work towards re-creating a beautiful Still Life oil painting. Working from the same image, supplied prior to the course, students will learn how to transfer their image to canvas, create a master-copy, mix the perfect colours and develop their brushwork. Through these well structured sessions learning both direct and indirect painting methods, strong emphasis will be given to the importance of values, colour, texture and form.

Material list and reference images will be emailed prior to the course start.

As this is a full 5 day course, held in the same studio, students will be able to leave their materials, canvas etc in the studio for the entirety of the course

About the tutor

Natasha Barr is a visual freelance painter and educator who teaches at various art centres throughout Belfast and Donegal as well as online courses. She works in various mediums, such as oil, acrylic, watercolour & charcoal depicting landscape, still life and portrait scenes.

Originally from Donegal, Natasha moved to Belfast and completed her BA(Hons) degree at Belfast College of Art in 1995 – 1998. Since then, Natasha has trained under many acclaimed artists, mainly focusing on the old masters.
