Sewing
This class is for experienced sewists who want to learn the skills to make a cotton shirt.
We will be using the Rivi Shirt pattern from Chalk and Notch. This is a boxy style shirt with yoke details on the front and the back. This shirt uses stripes running in different directions but can also be made with a plain or print fabric.
The class will focus on the skills of sharp cuffs and collars, buttonholes and sewing on buttons with your machine, clean finishing internal seams, using French seams or an overlocker for a professional finish. Sleeve plackets and the “burrito method” for enclosing a double yoke will also feature. (Overlockers will be available).
Experience required– this class is designed for people who have already made simpler garments, are familiar and experienced with paper patterns and are confident in the use of their machine. Not suitable for beginners.
Notes on materials:
Evelyn will be providing all pattern pieces printed on AO-size tissue paper.
