This 4 day Summer intensive course would be aimed at anyone interested in pursuing acting as a career, interested to find out more about the profession or how to get into the career.
On Day 1, we will focus on 'Getting into Character', the art of acting, presence and the foundations of character work. Beginning work on recording scene(s), we will explore script analysis, breath-work, imposter syndrome, improvisation and more.
Day 2, we will be focusing on scene work. How to break down a script for auditions. Find your characters beats and intentions and then start working towards performing those scenes.
Day 3, we will look at 'Acting as a Career'. The stuff that drama schools don’t tell you! An opportunity to learn more about the mechanics of work in the on-screen industry with valuable guidance and practical tools. The class will explore elements such as: understanding different types of T.V. roles; navigating 'On Set' with professionalism and preparation; dealing with imposter syndrome & self-care; headshots; costs & memberships; agents; sight reading and more.
Day 4, will be all about performance and feedback. With an opportunity to reflect and receive feedback on taped and live performance. As well as final performances among our peers ; this session will also be a space for one on one feedback and questions.
About the Tutor
Charis has been working as a professional actress and drama practitioner for around 15 years with a BA Hons in Theatre Arts and diplomas in Performance Art and Musical Theatre.
For the past few years Charis has worked mainly in television and film with recent roles in Netflix's Winx saga, AMC’s Moonhaven, and Virgin's new show Faithless. .
Previously she has worked as a freelance theatre director, teacher and producer working mainly in London theatres.
Charis has a real passion for teaching and empowering people through drama. She strongly believes that acting isn’t about being someone else. Instead it's about using who you are to breathe life into different perspectives and walks of life.
