Craft
This 6-week course is all about finding your voice as a jewellery maker and a wearer.
In the first two sessions, you will learn basic metalsmithing techniques and make your first ring and a simple pendant. With that experience, you will design your own jewellery that you will work on for the following 4 sessions.
You will be guided step by step and encouraged to incorporate your own design ideas within the limits of the material and techniques. At the end of these six weeks, you will have a few pieces of silver jewellery that are uniquely yours.
You will learn how to saw and shape silver, try simple soldering techniques, and receive some tips and tricks on how to finish the piece to a high standard.
The workshop is intended for complete beginners, but if you already have experience in jewellery making, you will be able to advance or refresh your skills as well.
All tools and materials are provided.
Materials are £90 per person, which is included in the price. The price also includes the cost of silver and a jewellery box in which you will bring your creations home.
At the end of this course, you will come away with a collection of rings.
You are not required to bring or prepare anything in advance. Wearing comfortable clothes and footwear, as well as reading glasses if you need them, is recommended.
