Rosie Pelan Actors’ Studio: Level 3

Drama

Have you done a general acting course or are you looking to explore acting techniques and theories of acting in more depth?

If the answer is yes, then this is the course for you! The Tutor, Rosie, has enjoyed a 20 year long career as an actor and acting coach and is excited to pass on the skills you will continue to develop as a member of this stimulating course, including:

  • accent work, applied to a particular play-text
  • scene study - where you will study a scene in detail and break it down in terms of its structure and character 'arc'
  • Stanislavskian methodology- you will learn Stanislavski's 'System of Acting' and apply it to selected texts
  • Understand how other practitioners such as Michael Chekhov and Stella Adler contributed to the development of  modern acting techniques
  • Actioning: learn how to 'action' a scene's dialogue in order to work on character development in a detailed way that offers variety of intention and motivation to the actor
  • script analysis techniques- study a complete play in depth
  • Co-operation with your fellow actors- by using a common 'grammar' of acting in class, including by using the methods studied in the workshop situation, you will enjoy the close relationship that working as a team can offer

Learning Outcomes: you will:

  • Grow in confidence as a performer who can select from several different approaches to acting
  • Develop a shared vocabulary with your fellow actors that can enhance the understanding between performers
  • Learn the history of modern acting techniques from Stanislavski, the godfather of 'Realism', onwards
  • be stimulated intellectually and creatively in the company of like-minded classmates
  • Feel supported by a tutor who wants you to flourish and learn
