Join us for this Belfast Book Festival Reading Group hosted by writer Shakeema Edwards.
Whether you are new to poetry or you spend your free time reciting Chaucer, join us for a relaxed discussion of Dawn Watson’s genre-bending verse novel, We Play Here. Share your opinions with a community of readers and hear new perspectives as we journey to north Belfast in the summer of 1988.
The group will take place:
Saturday 1st June > 1.30 - 3.30pm
With the option to attend event at the Belfast Book Festival as a group on Sunday 10 June, where Dawn along with Martina Evans, will be in conversation with Mícheál McCann, chatting about their work. About the tutor
Shakeema Edwards is an Antiguan American writer living in Belfast, where she completed a master’s in poetry at the Seamus Heaney Centre.
She has received an Ireland Chair of Poetry Student Award and was shortlisted for the 2023 Manchester Poetry Prize. Her work has appeared in New Isles Press, Channel, Propel Magazine and The Apiary.
