Poetry
This 12-week course will use a series of innovative and fun sessions to provide a supportive and creative environment to help you understand the very basics of poetry.
You will learn various poetic techniques such as simile and metaphor, imagery, line and metre, poetic voice and rhythm and rhyme. Each workshop will offer peer led discussions and feedback on your work as you progress.
This beginner course would be suitable for people who have maybe dabbled in poetry or who have simply read poetry for enjoyment and would like to further their understanding and appreciation.
About the Tutor
Wendy Sinnamon is a writer and poet from Portadown, Northern Ireland. She was shortlisted for 2023 Seamus Heaney Award For New Writing and her debut fiction manuscript was shortlisted for Penguin's WriteNow programme. Her poetry has been featured in several publications including Abridged, The Honest Ulsterman and Poetry Bus.
Wendy has a BA first class in Creative Writing and English Literature from the Open University. She is currently studying towards an MA in English Literature.
