Explore MoreDrawing & Painting
Explore free-hand sketching techniques, using and combining media such as pencil, graphite, charcoal, crayon, markers, ink & wash and watercolour.
During the 10-week term you will work from the figure to explore line, tone, scale, gesture and composition in an open-minded manner, freed from the constraints of representation. Whether you’d like to come to learn how to draw the figure or you wish to expand your drawing practice, this workshop features a “hands on, hands off” approach therefore it is suitable for various levels, particualr for those wishing to expanding from a post-beginner level and those who wish to expand their drawing practice.
Tutor's Materials List
Paper
Feel free to bring any kind/type of paper – this does not have to be expensive. It can be lining paper, brown paper roll (packaging paper) or a cheap sketchbook. The smallest size I would recommend would be A3.
For the longer poses towards the 2nd half of the class, I would recommend A2 paper (we can use the bigger pieces of paper provided by the Crescent) but you can buy sketchbooks in this size in Bradbury Art or on Amazon.
Drawing Mediums
Charcoal – willow and compressed charcoal. Again The Works website has both of these items at reasonable prices. You do not need to break the bank with expensive materials (although you can if you’d like!).
