Get to grips with your sewing machine in this beginners course! Suitable for those who know the very basics of their machine but wish to continue developing their knowledge further. Your tutor, quiltmaker Jacki Bradley, will guide you step-by-step with tips, advice and expert sewing machine know-how as you develop your skill-set and work together on the project of a beautiful patchwork quilt.
If you’ve ever marveled at the intricate beauty of quilts and dreamed of creating your own, this is the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of patchwork and quilting while building the sewing machine skills to take to any future project of your own. We’ll start with the fundamentals, ensuring you build a solid foundation in patchworking techniques. By the end of the course, you’ll proudly unveil your very own handcrafted lap quilt, made using the Single Irish Chain pattern.
Included in the ticket price are a range of materials and supplies that you will need for the course. Students must however bring their own sewing machine with a quarter inch foot to class as well as:
1x Colourful Jelly Roll (to pop against the white fabric provided)
1x 100% Cotton White Thread
Wadding and Backing purchase will be discussed in class.
All other supplies will be provided.
About the Tutor
Tutor Jacki Bradley has been making quilts for 20yrs. Her Instagram or Facebook page, Heritage Quilts NI, is a good place for you to check out samples of work. From message quilts to commissioned birthday quilts each one is unique and personalised. These quilts are precious heirlooms to be passed from one generation to the next.
Jacki finds quilting to be therapeutic and wants to share that with you also. She loves creating with fabric and is excited for you to unleash your creative side with patchwork and quilting. This new skill will allow you to create bespoke pieces for yourself, family and friends. Your first block will hopefully be the first of many quilting projects.
