Landscape Oil Painting with a Reference Photo

Learn to paint the landscape in oil from the comfort of your home. This is a 7-week live interactive course through Zoom where painting technique, linear and atmospheric perspective, color theory, and art history will be discussed.

The first 3 lessons will be working from the same reference photo of a landscape where you will be guided through the fundamentals of painting. You will learn how to create your underpainting which will assist with the foundation for subsequent layering of color. You will then be guided through the process of bringing your picture to a unified finish with all the desired effects & relevant details. The remaining 4 weeks will give you the opportunity to practice these techniques on your own image or work from another reference photo supplied by the tutor.

Once you sign up, you will receive a materials list and reference image and a one-hour pre-recording, which will talk you through the materials required, the structure of the lessons and getting your area ready for the live classes. The online format of the class allows students to take advantage of demonstrations and lectures by the tutor, who will also set up a closed WhatsApp group. This provides students the chance to connect and learn from one another at the same time and answer any questions they may have between classes. Open to all levels, some drawing experience is recommended.
