Dance
Festival Irish Dancing is both a sport and an art form that is unique to Northern Ireland. It is a cross-community tradition and welcomes people from all backgrounds! Festival Irish dancing combines footwork and technique with storytelling and interpretation, allowing dancers to express themselves through performance.
Through this 12-week term you will focus on the fundamentals of Irish dance, and we will explore both light shoe dances and heavy shoe dances - including some set dance work. We will also explore lots of teamwork along the way too!
The sessions will be relaxed and fun and will provide you with an opportunity to meet new people, improve your fitness and have lots of craic!
No special equipment is required. However, if you have pumps or heavy shoes, please bring them along to the class with you! If not, we would advise that you bring trainers you could dance in if that is most comfortable for you.
