Guitar: Beginners

This course is designed for complete beginners who want to start their guitar journey the right way. We’ll cover all the essentials — from how to hold the guitar and place your fingers, to learning your first chords, strumming patterns, and songs.

You don’t need any previous experience — just a guitar, some curiosity, and a willingness to have fun. By the end of the course, you’ll be confidently playing full songs and have a solid foundation to keep improving.

Prerequisites:

 None — this class is perfect for absolute beginners.

What We’ll Cover 

​•​How to hold the guitar, tune it, and get a good tone

​•​Finger placement and fretting technique

​•​Essential beginner chords

​•​Smooth chord changes

​•​Basic strumming patterns and rhythm

​•​Playing simple, recognisable songs

​•​Building confidence playing with others

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to play multiple songs and understand how everything fits together.

About the Tutor

Hi, I’m Joe Kennedy — a fingerstyle guitarist and guitar tutor with over 20 years of playing experience. I’ve been playing since the age of 7, inspired by players like Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins.

I perform regularly at weddings, restaurants, and private events, and I love helping new players fall in love with the guitar. My teaching style is relaxed, supportive, and focused on getting you playing real music as quickly as possible.
