Argentine Tango is a genre of simple quadruple metre and binary musical form, and the social dance that accompanies it, was developed over the last century in Argentina's capital city, Buenos Aires.
This is very different from ballroom Tango or show Tango. Its lyrics and music are marked by nostalgia, expressed through melodic instruments including the bandoneon.
During the term you will learn the basic steps of Tango so that you are able to dance it socially in “Milongas” (social tango dances) and you will enjoy the benefits it brings such as: developing a good posture, strengthening your core and improve your balance.
Plus you will enjoy the all over feel-good about yourselves and the connection with others around you.
Tango dancing is like meditation for two (you don’t need to bring a partner but it would be good if you could).
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes with leather or suede soles.
