This course is open to dancers of any level. Dive in and discover the magical world of Argentine Folklore!
Argentina is unquestionably associated with Tango, but have you ever heard of Chacarera or Zamba?
This 4-week course will give you the chance to experience both of these beautiful dances. Throughout the course you will be introduced to the fundamental movements and rhythms of Chacarera and Zamba and, once you hear the music and find your feet, you won’t want to stop.
Come along to ignite your Winter evenings with energy in the upbeat Chacarera (6:15pm – 7:15pm), take a breath with a brief 15min break, then be ready to experience the beauty and flow of Zamba (7:30pm – 8:30pm).
No partner required. All that is needed is your smile and your will to dance.
Clothing - anything you feel comfortable moving in
Footwear - socks or shoes without a heel
About the tutor
Maeve McGreevy is a professional dancer who specialises in Argentine tango, Argentine folklore and contemporary techniques. She holds a first-class BA (hons) in contemporary dance from London Contemporary Dance School and has developed a name for herself as a tango and folklore teacher and performer both locally and internationally.
She has trained and worked in England, Scotland, Italy, Poland, USA, Argentina and Ireland alongside partners including Tomás Corbalán, Slava Ivanov, Emilio Cornejo and Mariano Laplume. She brings aspects of all of these partnerships to her dance and classes.
As a teacher, Maeve focuses on detailed technique, sensitive musicality and clear communication within the couple, always with the aim of allowing dancers to explore their creativity and enjoy their bodies to their full potential.
