African Drums: Intermediate

Instruments

This course is for those who want to delve deeper into African rhythm.

You will continue to learn djembe technique, learn traditional rhythms, and increase your understanding of, and ability to ‘feel’ polyrhythms. You will also experience the joy and connective power of playing drums with a group of people.

Participants should be familiar with the technique of playing a Bass, Tone, and Slap on the djembe (don't worry if your slap isn't perfect!) and have some experience in playing simple rhythms alongside other people.

There will be drums provided, but if you have a djembe, bring it along.
