A two-day creative painting workshop for GCSE and A-level students (ages 15–18).

Develop confidence with acrylic paint while exploring the exciting world of loose, expressive and semi-abstract painting. This immersive two-day workshop is designed for students studying GCSE or A-level Art who want to strengthen their painting skills, expand their creative thinking, and develop work that could support their portfolio.

Working from observation, photographs and personal ideas, students will learn how to translate a subject into paint rather than simply copying what they see. Through guided demonstrations and practical exercises, they will explore composition, colour, layering, expressive brushwork and mark-making, discovering how to simplify forms and create paintings full of movement, atmosphere and personality.

The workshop encourages experimentation, helping students loosen their approach, trust their instincts and build confidence using acrylics. Throughout the course, students will receive individual guidance while developing their own visual language and artistic style.

By the end of the two days, each student will have completed a series of studies and a finished semi-abstract acrylic painting, alongside new techniques and ideas to take forward into their GCSE or A-level coursework.
