With a voice that could “melt icebergs at 50 paces” (VOX), Belfast-born singer-songwriter Briana Corrigan, best known as the iconic voice of The Beautiful South, returns to her home city for a special, intimate performance at The Crescent Arts Centre this November, presented by Music Capital.
Following a ten-year hiatus from live performance, Briana has made a triumphant return to the stage, delighting audiences with a series of hugely successful, sold-out shows across the UK and Ireland.
She will forever be associated with The Beautiful South's biggest hit, the chart-topping, Brit Award-winning A Little Time, a song that became one of the defining singles of the 1990s. Her distinctive voice, described by Time Out as “one of the most distinctive voices in pop”, combined with Paul Heaton's razor-sharp lyrics to create a timeless anthem of heartbreak and resilience.
Beyond her success with The Beautiful South, Briana has established herself as a songwriter of exceptional depth and talent. Her two critically acclaimed solo albums earned glowing reviews from leading music publications. Q Magazine praised her gift for “chest-hugging, breast-beating balladry of the highest calibre”, while Melody Maker hailed her as “a revelation”. Hot Press described her as “a songwriter of wit and elegance”.
This rare Belfast concert offers audiences the chance to experience Briana's “stupendous vocal” (NME) up close in an evening of stories, songs and heartfelt connection. The set will feature Beautiful South favourites alongside her own acclaimed compositions and unique interpretations of traditional songs, creating an uplifting and memorable night of music.
For fans of The Beautiful South and lovers of exceptional songwriting, this promises to be a truly special homecoming performance.
