Book NowThis course runs for 12-weeks of the autumn term and is designed for adventurous beginners (those who have made a few garments) and intermediate sewists. It’s a machine sewing class and intended for anyone wanting to make a quilted jacket for the autumn/winter.
For this unlined jacket we will repurpose a quilt or use pre-quilted fabric. The sample garment (pictured) uses fabric from a Kantha quilt, which is most often made in India. The pattern for the Hawen Jacket is included in the class and you will be provided with both digital and printed copies. The internal seams are flat felled or they can be bound with contrasting or matching bias tape.
Ahead of the course starting, you will receive a materials list with instructions on what fabric to buy, how to shop for fabric including online shopping and what to bring to each session. The course is open to all genders and the kimono style jacket is suitable for all.
