Refine your artistic voice in Abstract Painting.

This 12-week course is designed for painters who are confident in their practice and want to develop their abstract work into a more resolved and intentional direction. Whether you have completed an introductory course or developed your skills independently, this course offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of abstraction and strengthen your individual artistic voice.

Through the study of influential abstract artists and sustained studio practice, you’ll explore key elements such as colour, line, composition, scale and texture while developing a more personal and confident visual language.

The course is structured as a supported studio environment, reflecting the way many artists develop their practice. Each week provides dedicated time to develop your own work, with individual guidance, discussion and feedback helping you refine ideas, make decisions and move your paintings forward. You’ll be encouraged to experiment, take creative risks and build a cohesive body of work at your own pace.

The tutor will provide personalised feedback in response to the direction of your work, alongside occasional demonstrations, discussions and artist references to introduce new ideas and approaches. Group critiques will encourage conversation, reflection and confidence in discussing painting critically.

Ideal for painters with some prior experience who are comfortable working independently and ready to expand their abstract practice. It is not necessary to have completed the Abstract Painting for Beginners course.
