We are delighted to welcome to The Crescent two of the UK’s leading guitar players in their respective fields as they join forces once again for what promises to be an outstanding night of jazz and blues.
Jim Mullen is unquestionably one of the all time great jazz guitarists. A five times winner of Best Guitarist in the British Jazz Awards and recipient of a lifetime achievement award in 2015, Jim has worked with many US jazz stars, including Mose Allison, Jimmy Smith, Johnny Griffin and Jimmy Witherspoon, to name but a few. During the 70’s and 80’s he co-led, with tenor sax player Dick Morrissey, the legendary jazz fusion band Morrissey Mullen.
Ronnie Greer’s distinctive guitar style, melding visceral Chicago style blues licks with jazz inspired lines and chord voicings, has been critically acclaimed as world class. He has shared the stage with many blues greats, including Dr. John, Memphis Slim, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and Lowell Fulson. His two albums, A Lifetime With The Blues and The Jazz Project, showcasing both elements of his playing, received four-star reviews in the December 2017 issue of the influential Jazz Journal Magazine.
Completing the line up on this date, two of our very finest, Scott Flanigan on Hammond organ and Dominic Mullan on drums.
Expect a night of swinging, soulful jazz based music with a strong blues element, played by some of the best in the business.
