We are delighted to welcome back to The Crescent the Belfast Guitar Festival 2019. Now in it’s seventh year, the festival is growing from strength to strength and we are delighted to join forces to bring this unique Festival to life.

Join us for the second night, which Is All About The Bass night of the Festival as we welcome to the stage:

Terry McHugh

Terry McHugh is an Irish multi instrumentalist and session musician best known for his work as a bassist for artists such as James Morrison, The Adventures and Rab McCullough. Performing a set of original music, Terry is pushing modern bass playing to it’s limits whilst still on duty to make you shake that booty.

Peter Close

Playing the bass in multiple bands Peter Close is here to showcase the diversity of the bass guitar through use of pedals and varied in techniques. Only at the age of 21, he has been given reviews from high regards such as Tom Robinson BBB R6 - “Special mention to the world-class bass player nonchalantly driving the whole thing from the bottom end”. Catch Peter for the sight of something different.

Steve Lawson

Steve Lawson is the UK's most celebrated solo bass guitarist - across 19 years of touring and over 50 solo and collaborative albums, he's built up a world-wide audience for his looping and processing approach to making a bass sound like everything else as well. He also teaches, lecturing at universities and colleges across the globe, and writes about a life less ordinary at

Phil Smyth

Phil Smyth's name is one that is whispered in hallowed tones among those that know his work. A consummate musician, teacher, and guru Smyth's compositions blend chamber jazz, European classical music, minimalism world and ambient music.

Jeff & Nathalie Corallini

Jeff Corallini is a bassist, composer and teacher with a great pedagogical activity. He is well known for having accompanied great artists all over France. He is also a studio musician and has participated in many projects, both in the studio and on stage, throughout his career. He has recorded several jazz fusion albums. Today, he is working on his next album and wants to focus on his own projects.

Tonight he will be accompanied by his wife Nathalie Corallini a professional singer, author and singing teacher. She has participated in many studio recordings and live concerts as a background vocalist and lead singer in different bands.


About the Belfast Guitar Festival
The 7th Belfast Guitar Festival runs from the 28th August until the 1st September 2019. As always, the line-up of events see’s the Festival bring to the city an eclectic mix of international artists whilst showcasing the wealth of local talent that Northern Ireland has to offer.

The gigs and workshops that make the Festival are all non-profit performances. They rely on the charity of the artists, many of whom devote many nights of voluntary rehearsal time, organise vacations from work and even finance their own travel from countries across the world to perform for you. They do this all for the sheer love of their craft and the music that they are so passionate about.
