This workshop will cover many aspects of writing a novel for the popular young adult market. 

You will learn about current trends in the market and what agents and publishers are looking for, as well as discussing and trying out various practical aspects of writing a novel for this readership including: plotting, making characters come to life, dramatising your story, and writing dialogue. 

You will explore what makes a great young adult novel and by the end of the workshop you should feel equipped to take your work to the next level.

This will be a fun and friendly workshop suitable for writers at all levels, including beginners.


About the Tutor

Shirley-Anne McMillan is an author of contemporary Young Adult fiction. She lives in Co Down with her family where she writes, tutors, and works in the local Integrated school. Shirley-Anne's third novel, Every Sparrow Falling, will be published in September 2019.

She is an experienced tutor having taught courses and workshops to all ages and levels of experience with the John Hewitt Society and The Crescent Arts Centre among others.
