Creative Writing
In this one-day workshop, you will explore different forms of writing about climate change, also referred to as ecowriting and ecopoetry.
In his introduction to Earth Shattering: eco poems (Bloodaxe Books, 2007) Neil Astley explains that: ‘Ecopoetry goes beyond traditional nature poetry to take on distinctly contemporary issues, recognising the interdependence of all life on earth, the wildness and otherness of nature, and the irresponsibility of our efforts to tame and plunder nature.’
You will read and respond to ecowriting which acts as a witness to the impact of climate change and also celebrates nature and our connection with it.
By the end of the workshop, you will have participated in composing some group and individual pieces of writing on different aspects of climate change.
This workshop is suitable for writers with all levels of experience.
