The Japanese term Shibori means too wring, squeeze or press to create unique patterns.
This one-day workshop promises to be fun, creative and interactive experience.
During the workshop participants will be able to practice the following shibori techniques: Itajime, Arashi, Ne-maki and Kumo.
Participants will use an indigo vat on the day to dye their creations.
Jo-Anne Cairns – Textile Artist.
Jo-Anne Cairns was born in Belfast and lived in Southern Africa for over 20 years. She has a long employment history of working in Human Resources and Learning and Development. Jo-Anne has successfully completed the Level 5 Diploma in Learning and Development from the Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD).
Outside of her employment, Jo-Anne has a great love and interest in working with textile arts specifically the Art of Shibori and Indigo Dyeing.
Jo-Anne enjoys using various Shibori techniques and never tires of the surprise and delight experienced with each unique creation. In 2021 Jo-Anne had the pleasure of enhancing her own Shibori skills and knowledge with international expert Jane Callender.
