In this workshop, you will experience the ways in which music and poetry help to achieve calm and peace of mind.
You will explore a series of sounds, songs and poems, identifying those which are the most beneficial for you.
You will take part in group activities creating calm and peaceful sounds and lyrics.
You will come away with examples of poetry, songs, mantras and lyrics which you can use for relaxation.
No previous experience of writing or music is needed.
About the Tutors
Shelley Tracey is a published poet and a Poetry Therapy Practitioner (International Academy for Poetry Therapy, USA). She is chair of the Irish Poetry Therapy Network. She has extensive experience of facilitating creative writing in school, arts centres and community settings, including the Crescent Arts Centre.
Kirsty Orr is an experienced Natural Voice Practitioner, Community Music Facilitator and Musical Director. She firmly believes that to sing is to bare one's soul, and encourages everyone to find their authentic natural voice as an innate form of self-expression. She is the founder and director of the highly successful cross-community and fully inclusive Lisburn Harmony Ladies Choir and its sister choir Earlybirds, a choir for wellbeing.
