Awaken your body and mind in this mindful movement dance course.
Using words, music, imagery, and creative tasks, this course will encourage you to respond in your own unique style and way of moving.
The tutor will guide you through your journey by offering suggestions of ways of moving or focusing on the body and in a way that suits your own body and ability.
Each lesson will begin with gentle movement, building to more energetic explorations before returning to calming the body and mind and finishes with relaxation.
Wear comfortable clothing that can be removed/added as need.
About the Tutor
Helen Hall is a dance artist and yoga tutor based in Belfast. She has been teaching dance for over 10 years and more recently yoga. Through her teachings Helen has seen the positive effect on both physical and mental well-being that having a movement -based practice can have, and believes such practices as dance and yoga are for everyone.
Helen completed HND Performing Arts Dance (with distinction) at Belfast Metropolitan College. She continues to attend professional development training opportunities with both local and international dance companies.
As well as teaching, Helen is a choreographer and performer. Helen creates her own work, which as been performed at festivals such as Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, as well as choreographing for many local arts organisations including Open Arts and Beat Carnival. Helen has developed specific skills in inclusive dance practice, and regularly works creatively with people of all abilities.
Helen has received awards supporting her work from Unlimited, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the British Council and Arts and Disability Forum. Such awards recognise the quality of her work.
Helen has practised Yoga for many years, experiencing for herself the positive effects such a practice has on mind and body. In more recent years she trained with YTTC to complete her Yoga Teacher qualification.
