About the tutor
Barbara Gibson is a qualified and experienced yoga teacher, who has been practicing for many years and teaching yoga since 1998. The inspiration behind her teaching is the revolutionary approach of Vanda Scaravelli, author of Awakening the Spine, and Diane Long, author of Notes on Yoga.
Central to this approach of yoga is an emphasis on being kind to the body and to gently undo tension, to reveal a deep source of vitality and energy.
There is a quality of attention we are trying to bring to the body, when our interest is drawn towards the subtle interior movements and connections. We are not trying to get the body to conform to an external shape, we are more interested in finding freedom and space, then the Asana comes from that.
This approach is subtle yet profound. It cannot be reduced to a system or method. It demands the practitioner develops an interest and attentiveness in their own body so demands creativity and freedom.
