In this course you will develop the skills needed to produce silkscreen prints at home.
During the course you will learn about mixing inks, making your own silkscreen frame and how to print repeated patterns.
The printing methods taught can be applied to fabrics including t-shirts and bags, posters, cards and much more.
The opportunity to create work for your own chosen project will also be an option.
This course is designed to be fun, practical and in a relaxed environment.
No experience is necessary and materials and inks will be provided however please bring a roll of masking tape.
About the tutor
Katherine St. Angelo, an American now living in Northern Ireland, is a mixed media artist. Her work spans a range of media, which include printmaking, collage, textiles, paint, embroidery, photography and recycled materials.
Since gaining her BA (Hons) in Fine and Applied Textiles (University of Ulster, 2003), Katherine has regularly exhibited her work and been commissioned by private collectors and several organisations: among which are the Victoria Gallery and Museum of Liverpool, Streetmonkey and Signature Records.
Her experience of managing art galleries, organising exhibitions and working closely with other artists has enabled her to develop her own art further, and driven her passion for working within community arts.
Since 2008, she has been an Art Facilitator and has run felt-making and silkscreen printing classes at the Crescent Arts Centre. She has been involved with schools, mental health organisations and numerous community/cross-community group projects and workshops.
