This course aim to give you the skills required to produce silkscreen prints in the comfort of your own home.
You will learn how to mix inks for printing onto both paper and fabric, make your own silkscreen frame and print repeated patterns. You will also experiment with multiple printing techniques including mono silkscreen printing.
This is an informal and relaxed course, which enables you to produce a wide variety of work. Students will have the opportunity to make gifts, produce work for exhibitions or simply print for the fun of being creative!
No experience necessary and materials will be provided, but please bring a roll of masking tape.
About the tutor
Katherine St. Angelo, an American now living in Northern Ireland, is a mixed media artist. Her work spans a range of media, which include printmaking, collage, textiles, paint, embroidery, photography and recycled materials.
Since gaining her BA (Hons) in Fine and Applied Textiles (University of Ulster, 2003), Katherine has regularly exhibited her work and been commissioned by private collectors and several organisations: among which are the Victoria Gallery and Museum of Liverpool, Streetmonkey and Signature Records.
Her experience of managing art galleries, organising exhibitions and working closely with other artists has enabled her to develop her own art further, and driven her passion for working within community arts.
Since 2008, she has been an Art Facilitator and has run felt-making and silkscreen printing classes at the Crescent Arts Centre. She has been involved with schools, mental health organisations and numerous community/cross-community group projects and workshops.
