Join us for an exciting 2-part workshop that allow you the opportunity to explore some of the stunningly beautiful, decorative techniques used for traditional Baltic knitwear including mittens, socks and sweaters.
Techniques will include decorative knitted cast on’s such as the classic Old Estonian Fish Tail and Baltic Knotted cast on. You will also learn how to knit extravagantly decorative fringing as well as Baltic braids.
You will knit in the round and there will be original patterns to work from as you learn as well as plenty of tips for making knitted cuffs for folk mittens and socks.
By the end of the workshop you will have a full understanding of how these techniques are constructed and you will be able to use them confidently in your own projects.
This workshop is for the intermediate knitter as you will need to know how to knit in the round on 5 dpns and be confident with basic knitting skills such as casting on and using knit and purl stitches.
About the Tutor
Lucinda is a knitwear designer-maker, tutor and author of ten knitting, crochet and stitch books.
She studied constructed textiles and now specialises in traditional Northern, Scandinavian and Baltic hand knitting, nålbindning, twined and crochet techniques.
